Analyzing Emerging Challenges for Data-Driven Predictive Aircraft Maintenance Using Agent-Based Modeling and Hazard Identification

The increasing use of on-board sensor monitoring and data-driven algorithms has stimulated the recent shift to predictive maintenance for aircraft. This paper discusses emerging challenges aircraft maintenance. We identify new hazards associated with introduction technologies into using a structured brainstorming conducted panel experts. is facilitated by prior modeling process as an agent-based model. As result, we 20 validate these in context maintenance-related incidents that occurred between 2008 2013. Based on our findings, main identified are: (i) improving reliability condition systems diagnostics/prognostics algorithms, (ii) ensuring timely accurate communication agents, (iii) building stakeholders’ trust technologies.
